Rae Unzicker (b. Carole Renetta Engles, ca. 1948 - March 22, 2001) was a civil rights activist and advocate for the rights of persons with psychiatric disabilities. == Biography== Carole Renetta Engles was born in 1948, and grew up in Kansas.〔("Rae Unzicker Papers, 1967-2000" ) MS 818, (Finding Aid), Special Collections and University Archives, University of Massachusetts Amherst Libraries (last visited Oct. 19, 2015).〕 She graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Kansas in 1970, despite suffering a number of hospitalizations during that those years.
